The State of the Dogs, 2026
What 2.1 million scans reveal about the dogs sharing our streets — the rise of the mix, the great morning walk, and the breeds hiding in plain sight.
1. Nearly a third of dogs are one of a kind
31% of all scans returned a mixed-breed result — and no two produced the same card. The single most common pairing was Labrador × something, but the long tail is astonishing: over 40,000 distinct two-breed combinations logged so far.
2. The world walks at 8am
Scan volume peaks sharply between 8 and 9am local time, with a second smaller wave after 6pm. Weekend mornings shift an hour later — the only time dogs, apparently, get a lie-in.
3. Rarity is regional
A breed that's common in one city is legendary in another. Huskies are everyday in Nordic capitals and rare finds in the Mediterranean. Our rarity tiers now flex by region — the same dog can be a bigger unlock depending on where you spot it.
